Your 2025 training audit
The questions most people skip and why that’s costing you progress (part 1)
January is when people love to start fresh. New plans. New goals. New motivation.
What I find is most runners and fitness-focused people who don’t audit their last training cycle end up just repeating it with new dates on the calendar.
Your last cycle is data. Free, lived-in, honest data.
And yet most people never look at it closely because the answers are uncomfortable. They point to habits we could use improving.
This is your invitation to pause before you charge forward.
Below are the questions I would ask athletes and myself every January whether they run, lift, cycle, take classes or follow a hybrid routine.
1. Results: What actually changed?
Did your performance improve, plateau or regress?
Did workouts feel more sustainable or more draining over time?
Did you finish the cycle feeling stronger or just relieved it was over?
Did you stay healthy, pain-free and mentally engaged?
If something didn’t improve, it wasn’t bad luck. Something was missing or misaligned.
