A (Tough) Love Note
What's a phrase you wish would drop dead and why is it "you don't have to run...you GET to run?"
When it comes to fitness (and life), I stray away from speaking in absolutes. As I mature in exercise and experience, I find myself more times than not saying “it depends!” Of course, there are some things that exist in the black-and-white world. For example, the benefits of strength training.
When I talk about running, I consider it a “nice to have” — a luxury item that does benefit you BUT you do not need for its health benefits. But, in my professional and lived experience, strength training is essential for improving the inevitable outcomes of aging such as loss of bone density and muscle mass…and every reason I’ve ever shared on my page which you can scroll through for free! And if you haven’t checked it out, I was featured (along with other fitness and wellness experts) in the New York Times talking top fitness myths we see. Check it out.
